Kachi Ozumba

Our Flash Fiction Competition Judge.

Kachi A. Ozumba is a winner of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and of the Arts Council England’s Decibel Penguin Short Story Prize. He was a judge for the 2010 Commonwealth Short Competition, and his short stories have been published and broadcast widely. His debut novel, The Shadow of a Smile, was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize and for the Commonwealth Writers Prize, and has been translated into several languages. He lives in Newcastle, and has been awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship to work on his next novel.

'Great flash fiction is like a three-course meal served on a single dish. It should have a beginning, middle, and an end. I'll be looking for stories that pull me in, make me forget myself for a while, and leave me with something to remember. In one word: memorable.' Kachi A. Ozumba
